German Club Manila: April 2023 Newsletter

| Dear Members, As we enter the end to the first quarter of the year, we also enter the start of Summer. With the warmer temperatures, we hope everyone stays cool and healthy. |
| It is with gratitude that I am writing to you today as the re-elected President of the German Club. Thank you for all your confidence and trust, please know that I shall continue to serve and lead the Club through the coming year. Let us also welcome and support the new Board of Directors..March was an eventful month for the Club starting off with Grünkohl & Pinkel that was held last March 10, 2023. Attendees were able to learn more about why we eat the food we do during this event, a brief history behind it, and of course, feast of some of the specialties from Bremen. We also held 2 documentary showings at the Club this month. On March 15, we had the showing of “The Philippines: Hidden Champion in Southeast Asia” made by Prof. Dr. Uwe C. Swoboda and his students from Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg Stuttgart. Then on March 23, Carsten Stormer’s documentary on the War in Ukraine also happened. |
| To end the month, last, March 30, 2023, we held a successful Annual General Membership Meeting (AGM) in person at the Club. Meet our new Board of Directors that was sent in a separate email previously. We appreciate your participation and trust! |
| This month, on April 6-10, 2023, do note that in accordance to Holy Week celebrations, the Club will be closed on these dates and will resume operations on Tuesday, April 11, 2023. |

On Thursday, April 27, The Joint Maritime Committee (JMC) of the Dutch Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines (DCCP), the German-Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GPCCI), the Nordic Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines (NordCham), and the Philippines Norway Business Council (PNBC) will hold their Joint Maritime Committee Meeting here in the Club. |
| Don’t forget to catch the current art exhibit by local artist Ma. Luinette Belen located in the Club from March 18 to June 30, 2023. Details about the paintings and the paintings themselves may be viewed in the restaurant. |

| Lastly, next month, another annual culinary event will be held. On Friday, May 19, we will be having Hamburg Night here at the Club so mark your calendars! |
